10-year-old boy not allowed out kills father wounds mother
HOUSTON (AP) - A 10-year-old boy shot and killed his father and wounded his mother yesterday after they refused to let him go outside to play, police said.
Edward Simon, 45, was shot in the head with a .38-calibre revolver, said police spokesman Neta Carman.
Mary Simon, 47, was wounded in the chest and leg, and was in fair condition in hospital.
"They wouldn't let him go out to play," Carmen said. "It was in their apartment, in the living room."
The child was turned over to juvenile authorities.
Homicide Sergeant Jim Boy said the 10-year-old was apprehended about an hour after the shooting as he walked down a street.
The father had kept the gun under a pillow on the sofa in the three-bedroom apartment, Boy said.
